My father informed me that it’s National Haiku Poetry Day. I’m not sure which Nation we’re talking about here, but I’ve opted to just roll with the spirit of the thing.
As a long-time fan of haiku–or at least, its traditional 5-7-5 form, only discovering today that English poets have widely abandoned that format and more commonly write a “haiku” that’s three lines and between 10-14 syllables–I’m of course going to be writing some in what little is left of the day. If any of it’s decent, I may post it.
Meanwhile, why not try to write some yourself?
