Despite it being a pretty crazy busy month, I read more in June than I have for a while. Mind you, much of that was started and stopped. But in some cases I read well into the books before finally dropping them, so hey, that’s still reading.
It’s not satisfying reading, but it’s still reading.

As I mentioned on Mastodon recently, there’s a unique disappointment from getting well into a book that you then find out isn’t to your tastes for some reason and so — despite having put in precious time to read it — you put it down and move onto something hopefully better suited to you. There’s probably a lengthy German word for that specific kind of disappointment, because of course there would be.
All of which ended with me scoring a library ebook copy of Starter Villain, the latest novel by John Scalzi, who long ago demonstrated that his work is always and forever my cup of tea.
