A new record broken

Oh, hi. I didn’t see you there.

What am I up to, you ask?

Nothing much, really.

Still trying to get settled into the temporary apartment, still supporting and buying for/prepping meals for my wife and daughter as they’re still in full-time class mode for another month… oh, yeah, and breaking the 100,000 word count on my novel.

HELL YES, I did.

Granted, the title of this post is a bit misleading, as I’m way (way) past the point of how much I’ve ever written on a single story and so since then, technically, every word is a new record for myself. But let’s face it: No one likes a pedant. And what’s more, writing 100K words is a particularly significant milestone, especially when it comes to the first time one achieves it.

And I’m happy to say, I’m past the soft middle (I mean, to be fair, it happens to the best of us) and working quickly toward my big climax, with all kinds of twists and turns and portals opening in the sky to let through myriad unexpected creatures!

… minus the part about the portals and letting creatures through.

Although that does give me some ideas about how this story could’ve gone, instead…

Huh.

Anyway… super happy with having made it so far on something the likes of which I’ve never done before and was really questioning if I could do at all or should bother with trying to hammer through even as of only a few months back, so wins all around.

There shall be some celebrating tonight involving drinks and/or ice cream.
Maybe not both together, because that would be dumb, but as celebrating sometimes gets crazy, I make no promises.

And then tomorrow, as ever…

Onward!
